    now if you ask me i will tell you to go alpine, jl kicker or jbl because those are the brands i like. im an installer and i currently work at best buy. now whoever knocked the dual sub enclosure is stupid, im not saying its high quality stuff, but bang for the buck, especially for someone who doesnt even know what they are looking for its a good setup, the lights are *** and i have never ever hooked them up, but those suckers bang.

    secondly, if your gonna get alpines, dont go for anything less than type-r, go type x if you can afford it. type-e and type-s are junk shit, not worth wastin your money on, the type r and up have higher power ratings and will usualyl last a long time if not abused.

    fuck mtx, i hate their shit. ive been to their factory, ive dealt with lots of their equipment. now im not saying that their stuff is bad, i just dont like it.

    lastly, dont buy sony. cheap shit. for amps check out kenwood, JL, alpine, rockford fosgates, most the time there are little to no issues with them. subs well, subs are for the most part the same brand to brand. you need to look for rms power ratings. the temperature the sub can handle. make sure that your deck has decent preouts (at least 2v). match the ohm load of your subs/speakers to your amplifiers. if your going to have dual voice coil subs especially make sure ur ohm load matches. ive seen more amps destroyed and shut off or over heat due to this.

    in the end, in my experience, professional expertise is the best way to go. get an idea for what YOU want to acheive with your sound system. then go somewhere and get the details. sales people (for the most part) know what their talking about, installers are the best to get this info from, they will give a straight up answer on exactly what you should do if your unsure. i know because i do this ALL day everyday almost.

    just make sure you go to a reputable shop, get word from people in your area on who does good work and who to avoid, stereo shops are usually the best place to get this info. like my town has about 6 or 7 stereo shops, each one has its own specialty and if i cant do what they want i send them where they can get what they need.

    any questions on equipment matching or whatever you can PM me. i am mecp adv. certified and ive been doing this for 5 yrs, 2 1/2 profesionally. hope i was some help. late
    LMOA! Dude, how you gonna tell him not to listen to anyone but to PM you about it? Anyway I also used to work for Best Buy and Circuit City doing installs. What you said is true about opinions and all but you're being totally contradictary of yourself. I simple went with what he listed and told him other options he could take. But the crazy thing is that the brands you listed that you like, I have or had em' all.

    Come mon' dude you can't get mad cause I gave other options on the Dual "Best Buy" setup. What is it? Is it because I listed MTX a "Circuit City" setup. Everyone that know a little about car audio knows that Alpine type R or Rockford P3 are the only subs worth buying from "B.B.", just like with "C.C." it's MTX or Polk MOMO.

    But then again, opinions are like assholes and they all stink!

          MTX = SPL

          Fact.

          I've heard many brands and MTX is def. good if you want serious bump (Heavy drum hits and bass in Rap). However, MTX just can't touch other subs when it comes to smooth, responsive bass (Quick basslines or Jazz). Most people are happy with them because they can beat down the block with them. However, if you want to have subs that can handle more than just loudness, I'd steer away from MTX.

          If you don't believe me, read this (This covers 1 sub, but is true for pretty much all of their stuff). If you still don't believe me, go and listen for yourself. After that, feel free to buy whatever you think sounds best. If opinions are like assholes, I've been careful with mine, but you can do want with yours

          Making a custom box is always better than buying a box premade for certain air sizes of subs. Each sub is very different than any other and need to be matched to a box to get the full potential. Tuning a box to the sub is a great way to go, it's just hard to find someone to do it sometimes (unless you live in Cali ((damn you cali people ))).

          Fiberglass does look cool, but it can't touch a wooden box when it comes to SQL. Heck, even in SPL wooden boxes have the advantage.

          I'm not saying a fiberglass box will never sound good, it's just harder to design a fiberglass box that will sound great. I've learned this from first hand experience.

          Here is a one option. Build a wooden box that houses the subs, and then create a fiberglass panel that covers the front, visible part of the box. You get the benifits of both worlds

          Buying subs that are paired with a box by the manufacturer is fine. It's not like you are looking to have an incredibly crazy system, you just want something that will get you bump for cheap and not sound like absolute shit. For you, the MTX is fine. It will probably provide you with all that you need.
