i got Dual 12s for like $120. they are crappy, but they sound pretty good. I ran em with an infinity 1400 watt amp for like 2 yrs or so without a prob. And if you live in a neighborhood like mine, you done want really expensive things in your car. But if you want bragging rights, then buy high-dolar stuff. Iwouldnt even tell people what kind they were couse how cheap they were. So id say thumb up for the $, you cant beat it. They out did my sony xplodes. Now THOSE are bad shitty subs.

Dude, just say NO! They are flashy and all but you won't be satisfied with them. They're cheaply made, plus the box itself sucks. If anything i'd go look at the MTX sub/box setup at Circuit City.

            MTX 12" Subwoofer/Vented Enclosure (TCE4512A)
            MTX TCE4512A
            • Single subwoofer design
            • 12" subwoofer • 675W peak power
            • Easy hook-up
            Price was: $189.99
            You save: -$10.00

Here is a customer review on it....

I got this sub/box combo for my 05' Impala, and installed it today. Before i got it i had 2 12' Dual (the cheap ones with the blue light) and they werent doing it for me, i wanted more bass, so i went and got this, with the same 460 watt Dual amp, it hitsharder the both of the 12's. Very good buy.

Funny how he rated it better than the Dual setup that he had previously which is the one you speak of.

All you need is a decent 300 watt amp to push it.

my advice to you is to make your own box (if you have access to a table saw and and a drill, it's easy) and go to local audio shops' anual sales. 2 years ago i got a pair of JL 12w0's for about 120 and a kenwood excelon 505w amp to power them for 140. it bumps loud (133.7 db with 12w0's in a box made for looks and no sound deadening at all is not that bad!) and was really cheap for what it was.

i love figerglass, the smell, the look, working with it, etc. unless you're making a show car and are sponsored by the company, or are doing sound quality competitions and are again sponsored by a company, there is no reason to go with one company for everything. get what good pieces you can for cheap and you will have much better sound with more stuff for less money.

I've heard those pioneer premiers in action. They sound really good in a custom enclosure especially if it's made to the correct specs. No distortion!

ok first out, some units are gonna be better than others, but dont by what everyone tells you, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

now if you ask me i will tell you to go alpine, jl kicker or jbl because those are the brands i like. im an installer and i currently work at best buy. now whoever knocked the dual sub enclosure is stupid, im not saying its high quality stuff, but bang for the buck, especially for someone who doesnt even know what they are looking for its a good setup, the lights are *** and i have never ever hooked them up, but those suckers bang.

secondly, if your gonna get alpines, dont go for anything less than type-r, go type x if you can afford it. type-e and type-s are junk shit, not worth wastin your money on, the type r and up have higher power ratings and will usualyl last a long time if not abused.

fuck mtx, i hate their shit. ive been to their factory, ive dealt with lots of their equipment. now im not saying that their stuff is bad, i just dont like it.

lastly, dont buy sony. cheap shit. for amps check out kenwood, JL, alpine, rockford fosgates, most the time there are little to no issues with them. subs well, subs are for the most part the same brand to brand. you need to look for rms power ratings. the temperature the sub can handle. make sure that your deck has decent preouts (at least 2v). match the ohm load of your subs/speakers to your amplifiers. if your going to have dual voice coil subs especially make sure ur ohm load matches. ive seen more amps destroyed and shut off or over heat due to this.

in the end, in my experience, professional expertise is the best way to go. get an idea for what YOU want to acheive with your sound system. then go somewhere and get the details. sales people (for the most part) know what their talking about, installers are the best to get this info from, they will give a straight up answer on exactly what you should do if your unsure. i know because i do this ALL day everyday almost.

just make sure you go to a reputable shop, get word from people in your area on who does good work and who to avoid, stereo shops are usually the best place to get this info. like my town has about 6 or 7 stereo shops, each one has its own specialty and if i cant do what they want i send them where they can get what they need.

any questions on equipment matching or whatever you can PM me. i am mecp adv. certified and ive been doing this for 5 yrs, 2 1/2 profesionally. hope i was some help. late
