    JL Audio?

Well, I haven't heard to many people talk about them on this board, but I am kind of partial to JL Audio, based on reputation. Just wondering what others think. Here is what I am going with for my '92. Planning on all JL Audio speakers and Amps just to keep things matched up.

    Alpine 9830 headunit
    JL Audio CVS310RG-W6v2 sub box (http://www.jlaudio.com/enclosures/CVS310RGW6v2.html) - 3 10"s
JL Audio seperates in front doors
JL Audio 6 1/2" in rear deck
JL Audio 500/1 amp for subs
    JL Audio 300/4 for rest

Plan on using the subwoofer output controls in the headunit to use as crossover and sub gain control. Will be able to keep balance and fade controls with rest of speakers and not need a seperate crossover.

I am more in to sound quality than loudness or "lowness", but this should suffice if I want to get loud. Should also provide a nice listening environment while commuting every day. And, yes, that box will fit under the rear deck right up against the back seat with about 3-4" of clearance between the top of the box and bottom of the deck. Amps will be mounted on the seat side of the box with the subs facing the rear of the car.

Just thought I would share and try to get some input on the JL Audio line of speakers and Amps.

    Thanks.

I have the 500/1 JL amp, best amp Ive ever owned. But I havent had any of their subs in my car...but IMO they hit harder than Rockford, MTX, Eclipse. As for speakers couldnt tell ya, never heard them. But their amps are top-notch.

I have JL subs and they rock. I switched from Kicker to JL about 8 years ago and have loved them ever since.

Actually, the only area that I will loose is the area right behind the rear seat under the rear deck lid. It does not protrude any further in the trunk. We have actually already had the box in the car to verify the fitment. It does look big when you look at it, but seems smaller once it is actually in the car.

One of the things I liked about the subwoofer setup is that you get an additional year warranty on the subs when you get the JL Audio box (total of 2 years, if I remember correctly).

As for the subs, they weren't that much more than the Alpine and Kicker Amps I looked at. JL has the "/" line and the "e" line. The "e" is a little less expensive, but also doesn't have some of the features of the "/" line. I figured if I was going to do it, I mine as well do it as close to decent as I can, especially since I plan on putting it together in stages. And I am a believer in using components from the same manufacturer. Besides, JL Audio actually uses Alpine headunits when testing and showing their items (usually).

Not wanting to say "Mine is better than yours" by any means, just looking for real world input as this is the route I am pretty sure I will go - at least based on what the 1 shop close to me carries.

I have used a 1000/1 amp before and it rocks. I've been really impressed with all of their subs I have heard, but they are quite pricey. You might check out www.edesignaudio.com. I have personally used the K series drivers and they sound comperable to the w6. As far as SPL goes, I had 2 of the 12 K's w/ the 1000/1 SEALED and hit 144.0DB in a Mecca competetion. The judges were even impressed w/ the numbers I was putting up w/ sealed subs. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. If you want any more info on them check out the forums at www.autoaudio.com Most of the people there swear by them.
