    help with the amp....

hey all, I was wiring up a Phoenix Gold 4-channel amp last night, and all cables have the correct power, etc, but at first the amp would turn on and off like every 1/2 second, and then it just stopped working all together... i tried everything i could think of, but i dont know whats wrong. does anyone have an idea?

    thanks!

i'd check the fuse on the amp. i'd also double check all the wires. later.

^^^ Ditto.^^^ Are you using the right gauge cable?
Did you create a good ground?

what size wire are you using and what size fuse? Low voltage fuse or small 8guage wires can fail to supply proper voltage needed for your amp. Also verify that your ground wire is less then 12 inches and placed at a proper ground point. Also note that you scratch the surface so that your wire is actually touching metal alone and not the paint then metal body of your POV

hey, thanks, i'll have to try that. i replaced the fuses already, two 25A.

the ground wire is almost 2ft. long- but it worked just fine with my 2chnl amp before... and the power wire is 8g.

let me know if this helps,
          thanks again,

Try moving up to a 4 gauge wire. If the amp has 2 25 amp fuses, then you have a total of 50 amps on an 8 gauge wire which is too much for that size.

Shorten the length of the negative wire and be sure it is the same gauge as your positive wire.

Be sure the ground point is to bare metal. Remember, what may have been fine for one amp does not hold true for another one.

                Hope this helps.
