Bought new sub for old amp, confused

Okay, so i have a 10" Xplod being pushed by a 680w Jensen 2,3,4 channel amp.

I just purchased this sub to replace the xplod, but a friend told me i cannot run ir with my current amp necause the sub is a DVC @ 2Ohm.

    here is the sub:

can anyone help me with what type of amp to purchase? my friend said a Mono class D amp, but i'm still confused.

    Thanks

There are two different ways to wire it, 1 ohm or 4 ohm.

Get a amp that supports either.

okay guys, i got all the stuff ehre and awaiting installation,, i just don't understand this DVC and Ohms stuff AT ALL!

yeah sorry for the confusion, it's a kicker 300.1 and a 2 ohm DVC 10" kicker sub.

wire it in series or parallel?

Youre amp can put out 150 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (300 watts x 1 at 2 ohms).
                the sub is 50-300watts rms.
Wire it in series wich will make it 4 ohm.

I think in this case you should have got the 10"kicker dvc 4ohm that way you couldve brouught it down to 2 ohm.

is the sub still brand new? if so try n return it for a 4ohm

                      Okay,, sweet.
im chatting with an online rep at crutchfield right now, so ill try to get this sorted out.

But you're syaing with the 2ohm, it can run at 150watts? an with the 4ohm, it can run at the full 300?
