my subs are too loud! lol

i got my amp and subs put in this week, 2 alpine type r 12's running off a rockford fosgate 300x2 rms amp. they are too loud! i mean its good for turning some heads but i want to hear my music. my deck doesnt have a sub control, just eq and turning the bass down on the eq doesnt seem to help, so what can i do here? i was thinking that i should mess with the gain, is that right?

Just lower the power on the Amp itself

this is how u properly adjust...

turn the gain down all the way, and then turn ur music up as loud as u normally or almost max to what u listen to. then slowly turn up the gain on the amp adjusting the bass at the same time....

there u go, your max level is at the level you like it at.

also some decks have a amp preout in which u can supply more volume to the amp itself. you may have to mess with that as well.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Alpine Type R's were/are a kick ass speaker. They are now discontinued. At work in the last 2 months, I have did 6 or 7 installs with 4 type r 12's. The sub is UNREAL. 16mm excursion etc the way you see no coil wires etc. I have 2 type r 12's running off an mtx 1501d (1500x1) and it slammed. They took everybit of that amp and more. Good sub, keep them, turn down the gain and the bass boost on the amp

oh shit so they were discontinued.. wow i guess im glad i didnt keep waiting to get them.. is alpine going to replace them with something else, because it would be a shame to just get rid of them, these subs are rediculously good.

word has it they are redesigning them. Well just have to wait and see. Best woofer I have seen in years though. Alpine does this though. They came out with the MRD's (V12) accuclass amps and got rid of them. etc..

if they're too loud, turn the gain down or wire the subwoofers in series (assuming they're in parallel now) good luck!

my amp is 2 channel so i actually just wired the subs down to 2 ohms and put them on seperate channels. i readjusted the gain and that took care of the problem.
