    Yo I heard ant96gle's setup (one ID Max 12" in a really small box) and it sounded really good. Better than my setup even. I think I'm just messing with the wrong subs.

        Now now, i'm sure you didn't really mean that did you? Some of the most beautiful sounding subs are in infinite baffle setup. If anything, subs in free-air setups are smoother than boxed setup, mainly because of the large amount of air space. Then again, not every sub will work in free-air

          As long as your sub fits the requirement (generally, a specific QTS or less), AP setups can be nice. It's essentially a box with an AP mat in the back. It's a lot easier to do than to cut up the rear deck.

            Ahh funny this thread was bumped...I just took my subs and sub amp out yesterday. It's not too bad. Honestly with a decent set of 6x9's and components up front it should be fine.
