i have a cb9 and i never looked inside the trunk of a cb7. but i know with maney other cars ive seen the steakers are visble from the trunk so if u just put a sub or to in the rear deck and rig up some box's underneathe them like latch them to the top of the trunk then u dont have to worry about finding an open air sub

any sub can function as an open air sub. some may do it better than others, but any sub can function as such.

there's a swedish company, dls, that makes open air subs. the problem is that there aren't many dls dealers here in the u.s. i think image dynamics also makes open air subs.

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Well like Ricky said, marine subs= free air subs. I thought about mounting a box, but that's too much work...I just wanna get a sub, put it on a baffle, and mount it...

I'll look into ID's subs...they make good stuff, and I heard their IB subs are good.

this i know.. just talking bout him finding one that works well in an open air operation.

i really don’t think mounting a box underneath it after u do this would be hard at all specially with two people. and it will make it loaded so y not?

but again i don’t know what the trunk design is on a cb7 so sry if I’m being ignorant here

I once bought some 6.5" subs thinking I could drop them in to the rear deck but they hit the trunk springs... PM me if you wanna buy them crappy ass 6.5" subs! lol

Then I used to rock a wedge box with an 18" sub and had no trunk room. after that sub blew I took out the rear speakers and now I just have a couple 6.5" panasonic 3-way speakers in the front doors and I thought why not? it sounds fine in the driver's seat.

Hey i cant wait to see if this idea works out. I'd be down with cutting up the rear deck for a lexus style subwoofer. boom

                hold on to your butts

Acccckkkk!!! Pyle/Pyramid/Boss/Non Opti Lanzar= teh CRAP...I know from firsthand experience as well...it's koo.

                  Questions:
Did Accords with spoilers installed in the factory come with a flat rear deck?
Is the 3rd brake light assembly removable?

the third brake light assembly is removable, but the rear deck panel will need to be modified and recarpeted cause its half and half .. half the light assembly and half of a mold for the assembly to fit into. anymore questions just pm me, have taken the rear deck off 6 times, the first time is a pain in the ass.

sorry no pictures, next time i will cause i plan on fiberglassing something back there..

I'd like the Dayton's all around too, but I don't think they'll fit in the front speaker pods.

Dooods and doodettes....after some discussions on other forums I've found my solution:

http://cdtaudio.com/midbass_drivers.htm <------ CL-69x2 + CL-6x4 (Can I get a woofer in a rear door w/a spacer?)...good low end response and they're supposedly good up to 4kHz; I'm gonna have the 6x9's low passed at like 100Hz and the 6.5's low passed at ~2-3kHz in combination w/some tweeters...

http://stores.ebay.com/The-CDT-Store <-----PWNS, midbasses for cheap...c'ot damn their component systems are expensive though. It's gonna be a mish-mash of CDT woofers and Dayton x-overs and tweeters, probably powered by a Sounstream amp.

Would someone please buy my system...???

no, 6x9's suck, and yaw knows this..

LOL, false!!! My friend's newish Maximas and Altimas have 6.5/6x9s from the factory, and yea they don't hit me in the chest like my 12s, but they bump and play down to about 30Hz which is pretty good for me.

Big systems= theft magnets, unnecessary weight, toasty alternators, no trunk space, etc... I mean there are drawbacks to anything you do to your car, obviously, but it's up to you whether or not those outweigh the advantages. If I can get satisfactory performance without the extra 80# and draw on my engine/brakes/tires/electrical system, I don't see the point of keeping the system. It's cool, I don't knock anyone who does it...but blah it's just not for me anymore.

It looks like I'm gonna have to cut the springs...looks like there's gonna be a trunk strut intall DIY by me if I go through with this. The trunks are super heavy w/o the springs...
wait...before you get all excited..i have an idea..

                              1. remove the stock rear deck
                              2. make a custom shelf back there from MDF (or if you would rather just cut out the 3rd brake light area in the center)
                              3. reupholster it, and get a 10" red LED strip and mount it at the top of your rear window..its small enough that it would be inconspicuous and stil serve it function, and you could hide the wiring in the C-pillars
                              4. make a proper sized hole in the MDF part of the rear deck (right in the center, where the 3rd brake light used to be)

i measured the rear deck..it is 16" deep (front to back) next to the 3rd brake light, and 27" wide in between the speaker covers in the rear

so im thinking, if you wanted to cut away the support under the rear deck (the fabric covered cardboard stuff) then why not just cut away enough for a 12, or 2 10s, or even 2 12s...they would fit...

right, but those are little flimsy, light, paper-coned 6x9s that would die if you gave them 50w of power..and read wha ti just posted...
