What do you guys think of the new Pioneer headunit lineup?

    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...6_4039,00.html

I personally don't like where they went with the new models... I had a DEH-P6700MP in my Sebring and loved it.... with the new lineup (the x800 lineup) they completely revamped it.

My opinion.. I think I'm going back to Alpine

i like pioneer, i have the DEH-P6800MP and it's awesome. i had an alpine in my old car and i hated it, i know they're supposed to be the best or something but it sounded terrible and it was one of the nicer ones too...and yes i had nice speakers too...

I never have, and still don't car for anything pioneer offers, even their premier units. I always found them hard to navigate and program, and they always seemed to have the wrong features and not the right ones. Plus I hate the displays as well.

IMO I think there are better decks out there for the money.

the p8600 and p80 having worked with both i can tell you they are nothing special. the p80 demo unit we had kept breaking and we had to get the motor mechanism fixed more than once. the p8600 isnt full colour its only 3 (orange, blue, white) id stay away from those 2 models but other than that pioneer is still better than alot of the other headunits that are out there..

          pioneer deh-p8600mp
          13 band eq
          time alignment
          auto eq
          4 volt pre out
          BBE
          DSP
          24 bit D/A converter
          adjustable crossover slops

          Premier deh-p860mp
          1 band eq
          time alignment
          auto eq
          6.5 volt pre out
          BBE
pro mode( 3 way net work mode)
          DSP
          24 bit D/A conveter
and your complaining about it having only 3 colors and 2 stay away from it. What features do u look for in buying a headunit Cause their not many radio on the market that can top the Pioneer deh-p8600mp and premier deh-p860mp feature for dollar.

I've always enjoyed pioneer decks but the new ones look like crap. I prefer the older models.

i have an older model and ill keep it over the newer ones. I think the newer ones light up brighter but i dont like the design, i perfer the two knob look.

I have a Pioneer 960. in value / dollar, i would agree with hybrid90accord. it's a really top value hu. i thnk it's really easy to navigate through the features compared to the alpine glidetouch hu's.

my only problem is what other pioneer owners have, its the blowing out of the pre-outs that result in mad mad MADDDD alternator whine!!!!!!!! I've had it repaired a few times already and im fed up with it. i'm selling and jumping to an alpine 9853 next week actually.

This is the one we have in the Sebring. Who knows.. maybe the new model design will appeal to me after a while.

According to Crutchfield the Alpine runs 18watts RMS per channel and the Pioneer units (I'm talking the units worth buying... not the $100 units) runs 22watts RMS.

I have been looking into Pioneer heads because of that amp stat. All of Alpine's, except a couple of the $500+ ones are 16w RMS. Most of Pioneer's decent ones are 22 w RMS.

and yet the alpine still sounds better. power numbers arent everything.
what do i think of the new pioneers? the internal amps as well as the preouts love to poop out on you. an ok brand but nothign spectabular, also the controls on that p80 or whatever the high end one is suck balls

                              Old-School Pioneer Owns!

This is the one I got in both my CB7 and My Protege 5. It's a Pioneer MEH-P9000R. It plays minidiscs, has DSP (digital sound processor) and controlls my flip-up DVD player. It also has an alarm! (known as DFS Alarm+) Let's say you break into a car equipped with one, and the face is not in the radio, you have a certain amount of time to either put the keys in the ignition or put the face on the radio. If not, a "pain generator" will turn on, blasting every speaker that you have in your car with this deafening high-pitched tone! I love this thing. Old school is the bomb!
