    Only static from speakers

This is happening on my moms accord (97), but sure all audio is the same.

One day, the radio just started playing static. It has somewhat of a beat to it, but nothing you can make out. Sometimes it will randomly kick back in when you turn one direction, turn on something, but wont consistantly do it to just one thing. (like it'll turn on when you hit the brakes once, but wont to it again). Anyone have any ideas? Im gonna check the ground if i can find it, and maybe the connection to the antenna although that'll be fun finding where it is (built into rear window). I have tried beating the crap out of the dashboard, and it will change the static noise a little bit, but nothing promising.

Its also a stock headunit. Nothing has been changed/modified since it started happening.

Sounds like the antenna has a loose connection to the hu. Have you tried any other sources of audio (cds, tapes, 8track )

the cassette player did work a little more than the radio, but now if the radio gives static, putting in a cassette will give you the same static.

well i didnt get very far with your radio solution.. basically he said without it in front of him couldnt get too much. but he believes it is something wrong with the radio internally..

sorry couldnt help more man. next time i pull a stock CD deck ill snag it for ya with the security code..

that happened to my system. it turns out that it grounded itself out ( one of the wires, i dont remember if it was positive or negative, detached from my driver side door speaker and all i could hear was distortion and static) you never know that might be the problem

usually a grounding out speaker will cause no sound rather than static, id guess bad deck.

It was the head unit. She got another one, and now it works great.

try to play a tape/cd, and if it still is staticky then its prolly the HU. If not, then its something with the antenna.
