most modern decks now have a amp turn on lead, and if not i use the red accesory lead. the reason why some amps make a pop is that they are cheap and dont have something that others do...i forgot what it was but it mutes that pop

Large gauge Positive wire - Postive battery termnal
Large gauge Ground wire - Ground to bare metal in trunk(Scratch paint off if you must & use a self tab screw to secure the wire.
RCA(Like a/v cable) - into back of stereo(OUTPUT) or if useing stock headunit use a rca converter(pick one up at circuit city or maybe radio shack)
Small gauge wire (remote) - Tie it into a switched power wire(Power turns on when the key is turned to the on or acc. postion)

Always use an inline fuse with the larger positive cable. Also if possible run the rcas down a seperate side then the power wire.(Less noise interference) Good luck to you and if you have any questions just pm me. O yeah a multimeter is your best freind.

I ALWAYS tie my remote wire into a switch power.

just curious why shouldnt you run the rca's and the pwr on the same side?

the myth is, is that the rca's will pick up the power and create engine noise.

i havent had the issue ever since i went with better rca's the 30 dollar ones...also we dont have issues with it at circuit city running it on the same side.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
