Originally posted by GStegI had an E15k subwoofer when Elemental Design still used Destijl as their buildhouse. They were great subwoofers. I haven't used the current one, mainly because Ben, the owner, is a jerk and a backstabber. I would much rather spend my money on Resonant Engineering products than ED.

I have 4 of their 8"ers and my friend has the 13Kv2 and 2 channel amp. Good products, for excellent prices bought directly from them with excellent customer service. Can't go wrong with the price esp. if you want some clean ass sounding subs.
Go here. You won't find a better deal than that.Metal Metal and more Metal!!!
How much does your wheel/tire combo weigh? Post here!

A lot of people sent in their sub only to find out it's not covered in warranty, when in fact, it was a design flaw. Remember the flat cone A-series? A lot of T-joint between the former and the cone cracked (you can actually see it), yet ED claimed it was user abuse (even if the person ran less than 200w). Clearly it was a design flaw, otherwise ED wouldn't add an aluminum backplate to the cone to strength the joint/cone. Lloyd, who use to be an ED rep, remembered there were many k-series subwoofers stacked up in a room because of warranty work. I wish I still had the pictures of the broken subs, but my hard drive got erased long time ago.
It's no wonder why they moved to many different build house (eminance-->destijl-->tc sounds-->whoever they are with now). Many times Ben turned back and blamed the buildhouse. A guy I knew (chief engineer of TC sound) told ben about the problems before production, but Ben refused to listen because he wanted to get the subs out ASAP (to make money). Then people started having problems and TC Sound was to be blamed by Ben. This happened to Destijl too. I could go on forever, but I dont keep up with ED anymore. no reason to

Hmm, that sounds like some pretty shitty stuff right there.
All I know is I have a 13k.v2 12" 500W sub in a QLogic 1.25cF sealed enclosure powered by a sony 450W RMS monoblock, and that is one of the cleanest sounding subs I've heard. Excepting a couple competiton level systems that is...
I love it, have had it for like 2+ years now and no problems whatsoever and it can absolutely slam, especially if you put it in a ported box. Very high quality and crisp bass right there.
There might be some bad stuff behind the name and a few products might have design flaws, but my experience with them has been fabulous. I got my sub pre-ordered so I got it for like $90 bucks and waited two months, but it has been worth every penny.
Hope that helps. Just my $0.02 .

Thanks for the info guys. I'm pretty new to car audio and I've been hearing about ED for awhile now. A friend of mine who has a Diamond Audio setup actually adviced on trying out the ED 6500 components. I kinda heard about the warranty fiasco thing but didn't think it was that big of a deal...
Are the ED 6500's a better buy for the money ($250) compared to JL XR or other components in the same price range?
Thanks for the info again guys.. keep'em coming.. heheeh =P
