Yes, it happens to me with XM. Even when I am beside big tall semi's. But mostly when parked, or driving slow.
Driving through Oregon was the worst though. So many narrow roads with tall tree's along side = no reception. If I lived in that state, I would not own satellite radio.

well i bought the tuner/antenna for my Pioneer deck today. can't wait to get it installed. do you think one of the local shops will install the antenna on the trunk shelf like TDUBZ? i have a feeling that they're going to say it won't work that way. i definitely DONT want it installed on the roof. i've decided that for sure.

well I'm about to drop off my ride at the car audio shop. they're going to install it on the dash. keep your fingers crossed that i get decent reception. they told me 9 times out of 10 it works great that way.

you could really do it yourself, its pretty basic, just place it anywhere on the back decklid

They installed it on the dash and it works great. However, I'm surprised at the SQ. Read some old threads and apparently its not just me. I thought it would be at least up to FM standards, but I guess it's too compressed to fit all the stations. I remember Sirius sounding great with DISH Network. This isn't so with my direct tuner.

so u have an aftermarket deck with the direct tuner installed into it?

              what stereo and brand?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Yeah I was too quick to talk there. The reception blows. I notice its worse in the morning on the way to work than at night coming home. I was listening to Howard(who else!) this morning and it must of cut out 25+ times. Really gets on your nerves.

Accordztech and I are going to work out a time to relocate the antenna. I hope that I don't end up having it mounted on the roof! I told him I would like to try the rear deck. I heard that works pretty good.

Dude, just put the antenna on the outside of the car someplace... even the trunk lid. Works GREAT... I rarely ever lose reception, and that's only when there's full obstruction such as gas station overhangs, parking garages, and so on. Trees don't even affect it. SQ is also awesome... so I dunno what's the matter with yours. Do take into consideration though, that not all channels may have the same bitrate.. I've noticed that Howard 100 and all/most of the mainstream music channels sound absolutely awesome, whereas some of the other ones clearly do not.
