Hey guys i was wondering if anyone who knew about radar detectors or.anyone else could answer my question, i was thinking about mounting it over the guage bezel.....see picture, right on top so i can see over the steering wheel, will this block the reception? the antenna is on top and nothign is blocking it....but just want a second opinion, it is in the window now but it is too far to look at when driving (would like to keep eyes on road)

you usually dont have to look at a radar detector, they make distinct sounds for each frequency they pick up. after about a week of having mine (which got stolen 2 thanksgivings ago) i could tell the different alerts just by sound.

whisler is junk man.
Id never waste my money on that shit. Buy the best or go home
Valentine One (which i have) ($400)
or the Escort Passport 8500 X50 (290)
As for your detector that will be fine. IF i did that with my valentine id get terrible rear detection. I am your radar detector master. Me and my friend did test's with just about all of them. And the v1 is worth the money. the escort is deff worth it it picks up about 3seconds later then the valentine 1.
that site is pure bs.
Im not flamming you or anything I just know alot about this. THeres also no such thing as radar jammers etc. They may claim it does but it doesnt.
Hope this helps Im me on aim if you need anything - Poo1side

yeah thats what i said. there are not such thing as jammers.
But anyways.. for your detector yes it's a good mounting spot since the v1 is the only detector good for 360 degree protection esp the rear.
my riends got the escort and the rear detector is horrible. Just trying to help you out.
Mount it anywhere you want. But it should be centerd in the middle of the windsheild. Cheers

why the hell do you have a valentine, its not like your going 160 anywhere. I would only buy a valentine if i had a bmw or a porsche or something, cause then you'd prolly going in excess of 100 and need the fast warning. Otherwise, whistler i think is fine, i have one and like others it picks up waayyy before the cop...you dont need top of the line to get the warning you need.Audi A4 2.8 Quattro Sport

Won't the drivers body and anyone in the backseat block the signal from the rear? When I used my radar detector I ran and extension cord to the back window and mounted the radar detector in the back window. I was even thinking about taking the radar detector apart and mounting the sensors in the front of the car, the rear of the car and running wires back to the circuit board and mount the lights and speaker in the dash.It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.
