Has anyone done a DIY shift light?

i have my CEL as a shift light...but you need a chipped ECU for that

actually i was looking for one you could do by just buying a led bulb and wire it up some how that way just like the diy vtec indicator light instead of getting the actual already made for purchase shift light itself.

Try searching for Busted_Lx's threads or members ride page ... I've seen him do it and put it on the tach. It looks smooth ...

The stock tach isn't always as accurate as an aftermarket one. Or so I've heard... Who knows if that's true

^RPM activated switch... can be used for shift lights, nitrous, etc... good stuff.

^^^ that is true sometimes, but i pulled my signal from the direct point with my aftermarket tach and it is off by such a miniscual amount that it wouldn`t matter, it is something like 25-50rpm.. anyways, i mounted my tach in the glove box and shut it, then mounted the shift light on the center console, really only used at night, but then again, that is the only time i use it anyways.. other than that i just cruise.... anyways, later, good luck... also, there is another way to hook it up...

P.S.- buy whatever light u want, like a LED or whatever, then get a AutoMeter pill box, it makes a 12v jolt go to whatever it is plugged into by RPM.. used as a standalone shiftlight... this again means that it will read from the signal and not the tach, encase u r worried about it being off by 2 much...

my wiring got fucked up after my stereo got stolen and whenever i put the clutch in the brake light goes off. does that count... haha
