mount the subs in the back deck...but mount them isobarically...like upside down...then the subs would not be obstructing the framework under the deck... just my 2 cents...

ACCORDinglynice, any subs you mount on the rear parcel shelf should have a sturdy baffle --- don't just cut metal out and then mount the subs on the remaining metal. That metal is relatively thin and flexible. In other words, you also aren't losing any structural support because it ain't there to begin with.
What I did several years ago was completely cut out the rear metal (on another car) and replaced it with 3/4" MDF. That was trimmed and re-trimmed down little by little until it was tight as shit in there and then further sealed it with expanding foam--- I wound up with a far stronger parcel shelf than factory and a strong, vibration-free support for subs.
It sounded like crap overall, but that was the car's fucked-up acoustics. But at least I didn't have to use a box.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

hey accordingly, it will not take a lot of structural integrity away. if you do this just cut out the majority of the metal and leave a "lip" around the edges to mount a baffle to. As everyone has told you, you DO have to have a baffle. use 3/4" MDF for the baffle and lay a line of silicon adhesive around the lip of the metal before placing the baffle in.
If you give me a little time i can draw up something to show you what I mean. I have done this MANY times in customers cars when I worked at Video Kingdom in McCook, NE."you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.
