I've got a 12" alpine type r sub with an alpine amp (350x1 @ 2 ohms). What type of box do you guys suggest? Sealed or Ported?

sealed for SQ and ported for SPL, although, you should look at the Thiele Small parameters for your subwoofer. if you have a high Qts, then go sealed, if its low, go ported unless you want to go sealed. IMO you should go sealed, the bass is tighter, and it sounds much better. just either make the box yourself, or get an audio shop to make it.
try http://www.bcae1.com/ to get the right dimensions for your particular application, it has some great formulas for box-building.
go to #110-"Basic Enclosure Caclulations" and input the given info that you have for your sub and come up with on the 7th diagram/calculator. this has pictures of box plans on it and says "timed out on CD-rom only", but click the link above it to get it in full screen. it is very helpful, also if you choose to go ported, which i dont recommend, then there is a port calculator on that page as well. It is below the box volume/size calculator that you just used.
