I beg to differ. I got 4 type r 12s right now, and I'm in love
but I wouldn't waste my time wit the e's

you either have a shitty box, dont know how to tune your amp, or just plain dont know what a good speaker sounds like. allthough i will say type e's arent anything special. type s will slam pretty good but isnt going to save you much weight.

Anyone with car audio experience knows the Type R is a pretty nice sub but if you are downgrading to the type E your gonna lose alot of power and not really save enough weight to notice a difference

i think my alpine type R has to much bass for my application....
            i think there will be a noticeable difference in between 2 alpine type r 12'' vs 2 allpine type e 10'' or 2 10'' Jl audio W0's ...

and i am a firm beleiver in ...every pound counts! !
i have an 800 x 2 rock fosgate..but im looking for tightness in bass..the 12..has massive bass..but im not into..im all about 10'' something clean for the SQ and something lightweight...so its either gonna be the type E 10'' or the 10'' jl w0

You'll b surprised at what adjustments and fine tuning your deck and amp can do for your subs. The type of box, and if the box has the correct airspace for the speakers plays a major role in sound quality also. Me personally, I would keep the Type Rs, and just spend a good portion of the day making adj on the deck, and adj the amp until u feel that ur satified wit it. (jus my lil .02 cents)

you are correct my friend...the type R has great sq and good spl if it is set up properly...the best sub in the world that isnt set up correctly will not be as loud or sound as good as a mediocre sub that is set up perfectly...

You say you have 1 or 2 12" R's well if you want lighter tighter bass go with a single 12" R and a smaller sealed box, fibreglass is lighter than wood and takes up less space , then turn your bass boost down! LOL! Peace!
Its all in the enclosure design and install! IE sub faces up/front/back/side etc.!

i dont see how fiberglass takes up any less space, plus it is harder to get a fiberglass enclosure to be the correct size, as it doesnt have straight sides to easily calculate volume...
