Anyone know where I can acquire a factory in dash CD player? I had one in my last 93' Accord. If I would have known how rare it was I would have removed it before I sold it.

Yeah I picked mine up with an EX HU that I didn't need from ebay a few years ago. Course I found out later the display was dead and the laser was going up. Last year I had it refurbished so its good to go.
From the way it appears, it looks like the single disc units in the Acura's from the time would also work (Vigor '94) both are Alpine OEM.
The only thing I didn't have was the part of the mounting bracket to attach both the HU and the cd unit to the dash. I hadn't yet correctly installed it at the time, and fell upon that part alone in the pick-n-pull--best find there yet.'92 Accord LX Sedan--Bordeaux Red Pearl --OEM--279k Daily Driver

it has a hard time reading burned CDs but other than that it works with the corresponding acura headunit. you can hook it up to the factory accord headunit if you'd like too.

I wasn't sure that OEM model you pictured works on the '90-'93 HUs. It would work on the HU its shown with.
I thought that HU shown was for the '94-'97 Accord and Acura equivalent (not counting '94 Vigor), based on the fact that the HU has cd player controls, while the '90-'93 HUs have no cd player control and therefore needs the controls on the CD unit.'92 Accord LX Sedan--Bordeaux Red Pearl --OEM--279k Daily Driver

Factory CD Players aren't that hard to find - I've seen quite a few on eBay that would be compatible w/ our stock HU's. TIP: search "Honda" only. It's a wide search yielding lots of results but it's out there.
I know there are 2 kind of HU's:
1) CD Attachment (which connects to the bottom of the tape deck where the blank pocket s/b and plugs into the equalizer on rear - which normally has a gray plug otherwise)
2) Actual CD HU (w/out tape deck option)
* I've mostly seen # 2 on ebay both Honda & Acura HU's. Either will work - I know 'cause I've been switching back and forth - as long as it's a gray plug connector on rear. Only difference is it says Acura and the light output is not the blue-green, more of a white/light amber.
Another search you may want to try is your local junk yard. Here in LA there's several that specialize in carrying CB parts. That's where I got my # 1 for my HU.
EDIT: If you decide to go w/ # 1 like I did, don't forget to look for the rear mounting bracket w/ the wiring harness since you'll need it.Last edited by cyclonus_cb7; 10-19-2005, 05:25 PM.
