Got a short somewhere, or your battery/alternator is failing.
i concur . its prob a ground tho since its not happening all the time

my passenger headlight would dim and my driver would be full on all the time SOMETIMES so i cleaned up their ground and never had the issue since.

Battery connection for sure. it happened to me once,

i pressed the brake, lights out flicker off then come back on brighter

what happened to me was the terminal on the battery came off so the car was running off the alt, and with out the battery acting as a capacitor, the quick draw from the lights would kill the power and the voltage regulator would quickly correct.
      wat?

I was already leaning towards the battery as the problem.... that just about seals the deal.

Its definitely not my connections, since they are all new this week. But not having the negative terminal connected would be similar to having great connections on a crap battery...

I guess some of the $270 I got back from CarQuest will be going into a new battery.

I still wonder if a bad battery would ruin an alternator... and what the heck is kicking on when i hit the brakes that causes such a draw on the electrical?

No abs or anything... Thanks for the help though gents. Thats why I love this place.
        RIP

          Alternator ...

Atleast that was the issue for my headlights dimming while pressing brake pedal ..
          Not once .. but twice! So, 2 outta 2 times .. = 100%

Got a new alt .. bam! Problem solved!

I hear what you are saying, i think everyone has that to a certain extent... old cars, old electrical systems, and when the rpms get down, things get dimmer.

what I am talking about is this creepy flicker that crops up every once and a while... almost like every electrical component blinks for a millisecond when the brakes are applied.

a few people have mentioned it, so i doubt it is a rogue short.

            very wierd
