My left front speaker hasn't worked as long as I had the car, about 6 months. I finally got around to checkin if it was the stereo, speaker, or wiring. So I took out the speaker and hooked it up to the back of the aftermarket stereo. It turns out it is the stereo becasue the speaker didn't work. I WAS going to rewire the speaker wire if it ended being a problem with the wiring, but thats not the case. So I don't want to spend $200+ for a new stereo just for my front left speaker. Now my question is can I split the right front speaker wire into two wires, then rewire the left from there? Or is there an even easier way to do this? Thanks for the help in advance.

huh i read this like 10 times and i still don't understand. lol seems as if the speaker is at fault. the way u tested the speaker seems to be kinda messed up lol. but i could be looking at this wrong. IMO it seems to be the speaker not the stereo. if it is just one speaker not working then chances r it is the speaker. just go out and buy a decent set of front speakers. if it is the stock speakers u have now then dude spend 50 bucks and get decent aftermarket speakers. hahaah i think stock speakers are rated at 15W. lol -
Hmmm... I never was good at explaining things. Let me tell you a little bit more of my story, maybe that'll clear up some things. When I bought the car it had stock speakers and stereo. Only the back speakers worked, neither of the fronts did. So I originally thought that the speakers were blown. I installed my after market rear speakers and head unit from my previous car. My previous front speakers didn't fit. So I bought some Polk 6.5" 180W speakers. I installed them and only the right worked. So I figured it was the wiring to the speaker from the head unit, because the left had worked when the stereo was in my previous car. I never did anything about it though, three speakers sounded good and well, I am one lazy piece of shit.
That was about five months ago, now I finally end up having time to doing something about it, I have had the second Polk speaker in my trunk since. So I connected the speaker to the two front left speakers coming out of the head unit. The speaker didn't play. That is why I have come up with the plan of splicing the right fronts speaker wires so I can connect them to the left speaker. Does that clear anything up for you? Sorry to shpeal my whole life out on you guys but i thought the situation needed some explaining
.

technically you could do that, fronts would be quieter and eventually may screw up the deck.FA1

if you do that the load od the right channel will go lower. if both speakers are rated at 4 ohms each, when you wire the speakers in parallel then the load will be 2 ohms. if you wire them in series, the load will be 8 ohms. most likely your deck will not be good with handling 2 ohms. (you can check in the manual) if you wire them in series, you will only be getting half the power.
additionally you cannot fade to the left for the front if you tap into the right channel.
you may have to rewire which is a bitch, i rewired with 14 awg wiring, becuase the stock wiring is like 22 awg which burns out quickly.Comment
