I was thinking of installing some 240w speakers in the front doors, and leave the stock radio in, would the sound be any better or would i need to change the head unit.

It will definatly sound better than stock, but if you want an even better sound, get a new head unit too.

I think you should get a new H/U before new speakers. The stockers suck but they would sound better with a new H/U than great speakers with the news radio system we get stock. And spend a little money. I got an Alpine CDM-9803 and it's really good, well worth the $250 I paid to buy it and have it installed and warranteed up. If you're gonna go cheap, you might as well stay stock because you'll just be disappointed.
