Amp install Question - Left side trunk liner fiberglass mount

    Hey everyone,

I want to be able to mount a decent size mono sub amp (Alpine MRD-M301 or JL 250/1 Slash series) in the side liner of the trunk. I already have an Alpine MRV-F540 mounted to the rear seat back and have additional cap/fuses mounted underneath the the trunk carpet (hollow area near the fuel gauge sensor) so I'm tight for space.

Has anyone attempted to construct some kind of rack or fiberglass panel to support an amp at the side of the trunk? I want to keep it looking as clean and OEM as possible without sacrificing trunk space. Hopefully its possible to get a flush mount with the rest of the liner. I was thinking of cutting the driver side trunk liner panel where there is a slight opening (blue arrow) :

and then constructing a support out of grey fiberglass so I can flush mount and cover the amp with some sort of removable speaker grill cover or plexi glass cover to hide it...

If anyone has any pics or can share some ideas, I'd appreciate them. Also, what the heck is that black plastic piece that sits to the left of the power antenna motor? It looks like some kind of slot that goes into the quarter panel?

I say good idea! I like stealth installs, especially when they sound good!Check out my system!!!vvvvvv ps I believe the black flap is to vent moisture out of the cars quarter!

Thats a great place for an efficient amp (so long as it doesn't overheat/ has some ventilation). I have my amps under ps seat and spare tire well. My boy has his amp and cross-overs upside down on the deck lid of his jetta after we figured out the jack area was too small.
If you do end up fabing this, pics are a must!
