    custom enclosure for subs?

i was thinking about making a custom enclosure in my trunk for my box. how would i go about it? i was thinking cardboard to mold the shapes i want, then throw fiberglass on it? sand...paint?

i have my box just sitting in my trunk, i want something to make it look nicer, something to wrap around the box and blend it into my trunk and also stabilize it and cutout rattle.

    any DIY's on this?

If you're in Portland there should be some sort of stereo shop that should be able to pull off a custom enclosure for you. Its not like youre in the middle of Wyoming with nothing but arid land surrounding you.

What kind of enclosure are you gonig for? How many subs? Show look? Amp shown also I wanted to go for a show look but didnt have engough money so this is wHat I did ...

Phase 1. Gutted the whole trunk (thats the easy part)

Phase 2. Go online and find your exact dimenions for your subwoofers and what is required for them. Build your box, in my case I used plywood which I now have mdf (used mdf). Seal the entire box up and also use dynomat to cover under the box and the bottom fo the trunk because itll rattle like hell hittin straight bare metal.

Phase 3. Measure a piece of wood to cover the surface area over the box and supprting open space. Cut out a hole for the sub or subs and cut out a hole for the plexiglass.

Phase 4. Screw a peice of plexiglass into the bottom of the support wood carept your wood and cut out another piece of wood that will go behind the ecnolsure to bloxk off the back seat and a lil storage den for yourself. In my case, my hockey equipment. Hook it up and ur done.

Now if your doing fiberglass pm me and ill tell ya how, To long to post but this cost me about 50 bucks in materials and it came out lookin and sounding nice. Good luck

I'm getting started on this with a Kicker L7 also. Tell me, with the glass covering the amp, does it overheat? What holds the amp up? Did you make a 2nd box for the amp and attached it?

Here's what I came up with. I am pushing 2 10" Pioneer Premier IMPP 800 watt subs in the trunk. What I like about my trunk set-up is that I can still get to my spare, I still have space to store things if I need too, and my subs hit hard. Just a thought.
