Ridiculous wiring problems (stereo and clock)

Ok. My head unit and clock both reset themselves whenever I turn my car off -- I've noticed, however that the clock will "remember" the time for almost 5 minutes (ive timed shut offs and re-starts, just to see)

my radio only "remembers" for about 45 seconds or so.

This is really starting to bug me, mostly my radio, b/c i can't keep any of my presets -- it can't even remember where i left off on a cd...

...if anyone can help me figure out this mystery before i go ripping stuff apart without a clue of what im doing --

that would be great, thanks : )

Holy hell, my radio does the same thing. It doesn't remember any of my presets, and it sucks. I will be looking for fuse 24

ok people with the hu having no memory its probably the "constant" wire so check that (if that wire dosent get power 100% of the time you lose the memory. So take a meter and turn of your car and make sure you are geting power on that wire). And the person whos hu goes out with the headlights its the "dimmer" wire its probably shorted out. Mine did that. So check that wire and make sure it is hooked up corectly.

yea the problem ur having is the radios 'yellow' wire is not on a constant power sorce if you cant find it run it to the extra blades on the fuse box... the thing with the radio workin only with the lights off.. the ground was attatched to the dimmer wire.. acts as a ground when it has no power but as soon as you turn on the lights it no longer a ground so the radio kills .... id tell u if u were local come over and ill help but this is what it sounds like... and ive been doing custom electric in cars for like 8 yrs.. on the side of course...

Alright so here is the deal, the only way that I can get power to my radio is if I hook the Memory and the 12v power together (4 wires together), any explanation to that?
