    Front speaker size..

    Hey guys,

I'm getting the sense this question may have been asked before but I was wondering if you guys know what size my front speakers would be. My accord is a 91 2.2 4 door.

    Cheers

It varied between trim levels. But there are anomalies. Your best bet is to take off your door panel and check/measure.

Ya okay, I think I'll do that. Do you know what are the two sizes they came in ?

We do. That information is all over this site. In this case, however, you need to go measure as was suggested. If you have a trim level that was not available here in the states then not many people here can help you all that well. Just go measure and avoid any issues arising from people guessing as to what size you have.

mtnbikaah's suggestion is the best way to go at the moment. What trim do you have? There are quite a few.

whatever you do if youre using aftermarket speakers youll have to do a little to a lot of modifications, since that plastic basket that houses the stock speaker is a deal breaker. Ive had speakers fit into it, but had to cut off the back for the magnet to fit, some wouldnt even fit in the basket so ive cut MDF rings that mount to the door and speakers to that. Never mounted speakers directly to the door though, the magnets were already millimeters from the window bits as it was. Oh and theyve been "6.5" inches. rears can be 6.5 or 6x9

Hey thanks guys for pointing out that there are many different trims etc.. I find that actually really interesting as I've always been a prelude guy "oned 8 preludes" which are actually quite simular with the trims and you usually don't run into any problems. I'm starting to see that these accords had quite a few models and variations as apose to ludes. You know it's funny because I essentially bought this accord for a beater to get me through while my car was in the shop being painting and can't stop loving this thing. It's just an all around nice little car. It had quite a few issues when I bought it including a front break job that was a complete nightmare but I must say there is just something I really love about my accord

                USDM DX/LX has 6.5" and EX/SE has 5.25".

My EX wagon has 6.5" in the front.

Still, the best bet is to just measure them.

I agree. Measuring is the only sure way to tell however 5.25" for EX/SE and 6.5" for LX/DX is most typical and those are the sizes they come in. So to answer the OPs question CBs came with 5.25" and 6.5" front speakers. That way when taking measurements the OP knows its either one of those two sizes as I'm sure it's not exact and can vary in size on how the OP measures them. That way he don't go looking for a 5" or 6" speaker.

IMO the best deal is to go with 6.5s whether that's factory or not. A 6.5 with a 2" or less mounting depth will fit easily reguardless of which the car came with.

yes 6.5 is your best bet. the way the speaker pods are designed you can incorporate a good sized spacer easily. im not sure of EX's come with it but mine had a cardboard adapter so 6.5 could be stuck in the back aswell

My 93lx has 6.5" front and rear. That was a straight forward deal.

I had to cut the pods slightly to get the 5 1/4" speakers in the front of my 91ex. And I was replacing the stock 5 1/4" speakers. I should have just went 6.5".

My thoughts exactly when it came time to replace my 5.25" front speakers on my EX. Took out the pods altogether and put two 6.5" three way Pioneers via self tapping screws. Pretty much had Pioneers out of the factory, so why change brands?
