Climate control light

I was changing out the regular bulb with some smd leds. It was working fine I was just about to put the finishing touches and be done. Now just that light doesn't turn on. Checked interior light and day light fuses theyre good.

I just don't understand why that one isn't working, if something shorted wouldn't it pop a fuse? And how could it being such low voltage?

Im going to have to fix this tomorrow but to help me sleep better tonight can someone confirm for me from their knowledge if I can take out my stereo and reach up and undo that light socket to check it out. I dont remember. I don't want to take my dash apart to investigate.

Only I could take something simple and make a problem for myself

Can you share more info on the replacement, did you use a single LED to replace a single bulb or multiple LEDs or a resistor ... ect?

its a strip of leds with resistors in place already, and I just soldered the wedge base on

What light is the climate control light? Did you have to flex it after soldering it to get it to install? Can you check resistance of the light alone?

Yes, please do and compare it to the light you replaced. Also test that there is power to the light only when headlights are on and a good solid ground.

Well I already know theres no power to the socket. But its too small to test

What about the wires to the socket or the wires in the harness. Go back to the last point you have power and determine why it is not getting beyond that point. Use the same chassis ground when doing all of the testing.

Yah I'll have to see what I can do after work. I'm not getting any type of reading from the light, i think this meter is garbage

I'm gunna have to remove the bezel is it just 6 screws or do I have to undo others?

This photo (courtesy of H-T) is what I used to not break my dash. You may be able to acces it by just removing the radio though.

Got any photos of the install progress?

No I can't reach it by removing the stereo. Right now I'm at work but while I warmed up my truck I removed the center console and stereo.

Don't LEDs only work one way? Check for the polarity.. flip the base around and plug it in that way, if you haven't already.

Ahh, okay, I was just checking to see if you double checked everything..

Wonder if there's a bad ground to that one. Might want to check to see if its grounding out.

My radio, at one time had a frayed wire and ground itself out on the metal support behind the radio.
