DO not i repeat do not mix n match subs itll sound like shit, Make sure your ground for your headunit and your ground for your amplifer are grounded very weel and chip the paint off of the ground bolt that will connect to the metal on the car, are you wiring 2 ohms or 4 ohms? after its all hooked up check ur gain tune ur sub and you should be ok to go, also just to had go buy some L's from a hrdware store thier little metal peices that look like an l, with a cb7 the stock wood piece that is undernearth the carpet in the trunk is soild enough bolt them to your box and to the ground or else your box is gonna be sliding all over even if your box is heavy trust me, I got the Solo baric L's in a heavy ass proted box and they still slide, have fun good luck hope it slams

            damn...
i put my component speakers in (they sound pretty dam good)
            but the amplifier didnt work..

we checked to make the subs worked by taking off the wires for the rear deck speakers and hooking it up the the subs (damn were they bumping...) anyway im told that it can blow your subs if they dont have enough power so once we knew the amp was the problem we took the subs off the rear deck wires.. etc

so im gonna get a new amp...
right now im looking at a legacy
            http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_656.html# Legacy LA1870 Red Series
it looks nice plus deals out some nice power on a budget

also im gonna want a new cd player to match my interior
its gonna be red and black soon
so im looking for a faceplate thats red or the digital stuff in the cd player lcd screen to be red (a cheap one 50-150 bux) i found nothing...

but i find cheap dvd,cd,mp3 player

legacy is crap.. my boy brought a 1000 watt legacy amp.. tested it out... the headunit was puttin more power than the amp.. think the amp was puttin out like 25watts when it said 1000watt lmao..

why wouldu ground the headunit? if u just buy a wiring harness adapater.. then you won't have to worry and less work..

make sure your ground and fuses are good on the amp. and yeah legacy is crap. autotek is the way to go like the one im sellin on ebay.

PS: you cant blow a sub by under-powering it. whoever told you that needs to be shot.

I don't think anyone needs to be shot.
exactly, if youre underpowering the woofer, then dont turn your volume all the way up and you'll be fine

So why on earth did you say it wan't true?
if i underpowered it and lets say i turned my head unit all the way up, it would result in clipping and blow the sub.
now lets say i set my gains correctly, but hey for some reason im gonna turn my head unit all the way up, what will happen? the same clipping, so same shit is gonna happen no matter what.

lets say i set my gains correctly and im playin it at a good level on the head unit. not clipping.
now lets say i underpower my subs and i play the head unit at the same level. hey look, no clipping.

                        get it?

                          what is squarewaving??

if i understand u guy correctly (which i think i dont..)
then the subs can be powered by the head unit but i should keep the volume at a medium level, if i put it up too high it will result in squarewaving (what that is, i don know..) and blow the sub??

so i can put my subs on my head unit?

also can something happen if the volume is too low?

which amp should i get for my 2 sony xplods?
