amp wiring, distribution block and wire size ?

So I picked up a alpine f300 off of craigslist this weekend to run my kenwood components and rear speakers.
I already have a M500 for my little alpine type R 8" sub So now I need a distribution block and some more power wire.
Should I use the 4ga that is there and drop down to 8ga for the two amps. A total of maybe 1 foot and 5 foot runs, Or should I up to 0 ga and use the 4 ga for the runs?
For those that don't know the amps are 800 total. I will never push them to 800.
A little background. I have a High output alt 135 or 160 amp(I can't remeber), big 3 with 4 ga wire and an optima yellow top. Not that this should matter. But FYI.

i concur. 4ga to a distribution block and short runs of 8ga to each amp will be perfect.

4 gauge is plenty. I am running mine with 4GA to 2X8GA. I use Kicker and Fosgate cables. Best Buy hook ups. He doesn't work there any more.
You might need a relay to turn on both amps and the antenna. Use a 1amp fuse for the constant to the relay. My amps are old school, one is 50A and the other 40A. It never draw that much any way. I don't blast I like mid volume with super clean sound.

Cool. I will get some 8 ga power wire. My 4 ga is knuconceptz. I will prob get my 8 ga local. As I get older I try to support the local people. Unless they just piss me off
What type of relay do I need? I wired a relay for my trunk release. One like that? And what is the deal with the antenna. I have an s2000 antenna

Standard Bosche relay like here, the 6th figure down.
You don't need a relay but I use it for precaution, any time I have more than 2 devices on the remote. Or 2 bigger amps. You probably don't need it, but why take a chance for less than $5 and little bit of your time since you are already putting time in the install. Just my opinion.

Thanks. I used one of those on my actuator for my trunk pop. works great for it. It wouldn't work without the relay.

Thanks for everybody's help. It worked out fine.
4ga to fused distribution block, 8 ga to alpine m500 powering alpine type R 8" sealed and 8ga to alpine F300 driving kenwood components and infinity 6.5 in the back. I ended up running 12ga wire to the front speakers and 14ga to the rear.
It sounds great.

Just make sure you solder your wire to the lugs you put on them. also while your in there use some corrosion resistance spray / bat terminal spray to protect your connections.

I soldered all the connetions, heat shrinked and dielectric grease on the grounds. Not any of the connections on the amp though?
Should I? Grease them too?
