that should work, but youre explanation is a little confusing, let me see if i'm understanding you right.....

you want to cut the wire for the speaker so that you're cutting off the factory plug that was there, and then you want to hook the wire dirreclty up to the speaker? yes it will work, but you need to make sure that you go positive to postive and negative to negative on all of the speakers, otherwise the sound will cancel out..

yes you can reverse it. i won't actually cancel out, but make the speakers sound less than great.

So what your saying is that if I had a box with 2 subs and I reversed the polarity on one of those subs, there would be little or no sound.

I don't have a dual box right now. I highly doubt it but will try it the first chance I get.

I understand that if two identical sound waves are coming from one point source and one of those waves is 180 degrees out of phase, they will cancel. However we do not have one point source, we have two speakers. The sound waves will rarely align properly to cancel.

Also, the sound waves are not exactly the same. It is impossible. Each sound wave is being created by a different speaker, from electricity traveling through different wires, which may (or may not) be produced by seperate amplifier channels.
