    Alarm brain install location

I'll be installing a Clifford alarm in my 90 Ex.

I'm trying to find a location that's far enough away from the ignition switch that it will be hidden, yet close enough that it will be easy for me to install.

I realize I'm asking about security / car theft issues and am not asking anyone to tell me about their specific set ups, I'm just asking for general info.

Does anyone know if there's room behind and above the glove box for the alarm brain and a back-up battery?
The second location I'm considering is in the rear-seat, driver's-side side panel. I'm not sure if this is too far away from the ignition switch - would I have to use larger gauge wire if I put it here?

Also, I understand that all alarm wiring has to be hidden, loomed and look like factory wiring as much as possible because a thief will try to trace the wire from the ignition switch to the brain to defeat the alarm. But realisticly, isn't it fairly easy if you know what you're doing to just start at the ignition switch and trace down to where that wiring bundle goes into the fusebox or engine compartment? The alarm splices have to be in that 3 foot section or so of wire, correct?

I have a potential location...i have to finalize it though. If it works i'll pm you the details. Yes the splices have to be at the harness but you have to get creative with it. Even though i'll hide my wires i'll probably make an under dash cover to make the wires even more difficult to get to.

on the civic and teg fanboy forms they have someone that installed theirs where our abscu is ( trunk ). The rear driver seat where that removable cushion is has plenty of work space. There is always space next to the ECU if you have a 5 speed.

Thanks, those are good suggestions I'll investigate.

I don't know much about electricity.

Do you have to increase the diameter of the wires if you pick a brain location far from the ignition harness.

If so, isn't there still a small section of the previously existing wire that you've spliced the larger diameter wire into that is still at risk of overheating? Or, if you install larger wire do you also install a fuse at the splice?

It didn't work but I mounted it somewhere else instead. It's a simple spot but i'll make it extremely difficult to get to the brain.
Your wire diameter is fine, it shouldn't draw over 30 amps.
