    2nd battery

hey has anyone wired a second battery in there car? If so can you share some wisdome? I have an electronics background, but i dont know if i need to beef up the alt, i learned about batt isolators, and thats about it. I am wiring a 2nd battery to power off road lights for extended period of time when the car is not running.

Because your setup is just for running lights while the car is off, you should not need to beef up your alternator. All you should need is a battery isolator and a second battery.

A battery isolator is a good idea even if you get two batteries. Why? Imagine that you have your lights on for too long and drain BOTH batteries... then you're screwed. However, if you leave your lights on until your second battery is drained, you can still start your car because your starting battery is fully charged! After it's started, rev the engine a little bit and flip the switch to complete the circuit to your secondary battery, and that will act as though it's giving it a jump start.

NICE!!!! would you recomend using a 4g amp kit for rewiring or just locating the wires, my goal is to relocate both batteries to the trunk.
