If you were to just splice into your existing harness, that would drop the ohm load on the amp in your head unit, eventually leading to it dying. The best thing to do is to get an amp. If you were to amp the speakers you have now, you may find that you don't need any more speakers

i agree with the above posting, if you want a louder system, buy a nice four channel amp and hook up your existing speakers to it. are you not running a sub? you can also buy some new front ones with some tweets with a cross over. thats what im doing. just make sure if you amplify your current speakers, make sure they can handle the power, or else youll blow quik, as for your deck, ya dont splice it, the above post said it well enough, youll fry your deck. some nice decks come with three sets of pre outs, front back and sub

            Here's what you need.

First thing, an amplifier. Use a four channel amplifier to power your current speakers. If they're factory speakers, replace them. Seriously. You can't expect go get loud off your factory speakers.

At this point, you might notice that your speakers are loud enough. Most aftermarket stereos have a maximum of like 20 watts they'll put to each of your speakers, get a good 4 channel amp and that number will be closer to 100. If you STILL want more speakers though, you can either run those off the speaker wires from the stereo, or you can use RCA splitters to split the RCA signal powering your 4 channel amplifier to a second 4 channel amplifier, or to a 2 channel amplifier, depending on whether you add 2 or 4 speakers. For three speakers, you also need a 4 channel amp. Then you can run that amplifier to your extra speakers, but it's your choice as to where you wanna actually MOUNT more speakers.

An extra 2-3 speakers off your head unit is just kinda stupid, it will either fry the unit, or sound really bad. Problem with adding more speakers is that your sound will sound like it's coming from the wrong place. You'd have to do some serious mods to make it sound good.

i want more surround sound. i have 2 12 kicker solo barriks. 750 rms each. thanks for the opioions but i wnt 2 more speakers. so if i splice the wires and ad a amp. would that solve the ohm problem

You don't need to splice the wires if you have an amp. You just use an amplifier to power your extra speakers. OR you add an amplifier to your current speakers, and you'll have plenty of power and not even want extra speakers. Once I put a 4 channel amp to my speakers and got 400 RMS to mid-range, it blew away pretty much everybody else's system that I know of because of the mid-range power.

And the only way to get a better surround sound quality in your car is to add a center channel speaker. Just adding more speakers at random will make everything sound like it's coming from the wrong place. Your extra speakers will probably go behind you, which will make it sound like all the sound is coming from behind you.

Look on the speaker and see if you find a model number. Find an amplifier for them that matches the RMS power for those speakers. Don't blow them all up.

Ok here's the best thing to do gathered from what you want to do and what other people have already said.

DO NOT SPLICE THE HEAD UNIT WIRES FOR MORE SPEAKERS.

Instead, you will need to buy a 4 channel amp (or even 2 channel if you want to keep the doors and rear deck speakers running off of the head unit). Then run your rca's to the 4 channel(or 2 channel) and then run your extra speakers from the speaker(sub) outputs on the amp. If you're already running an amp for a sub and your head unit doesn't have more than one set of rca outputs you'll need to get a rca splitter, you can pick one of these up at Walmart, I believe.

Hope that maybe clears things up. I read other posts and seemed kind of confusing so I tried to clean it up for the OP.
