    Sound died

hi guys i got a new headunit and installed it using the install dr guides as a reference, thanx a lot for access to those they are awesome.

anyway installed the hu and everything was good, and as per usual wen u get a new hu, you also wanna change ur speakers, so i bought some cheap 200w 6.5in to put in the rear (using the stock speakers holders). I was playing a cd with the new speakers installed and i noticed that at medium volume that it was starting to get really staticy and distorted. Well as i was sitting there wondering why the sound was so crappy, i was flipping thru the stations on the tuner, when all of a sudden, all the sound just ceased.

i am so bloody stumped fellas. any ideas?

eek that sucks. Happened to me before a few times over the years, and it usually takes a few days to find the source of teh problem. Have you checked all fuses involved? Try the one by your foot inside, and what about the one behind the actual cd player? Check any amps you're running too. Does the Headunit still turn on? If it does then fuses aren't going to be the problem. Do your front speakers still work just not the new rear ones?

the hu still works and operates as usual (lights up, functions work etc) and it actually does not seem like anything is wrong at all, its just that i cannot hear any sound watsoever.
It doesnt matter what cd i play, what station i choose it just won't emit any sound.

Its probably a short in one of the speakers. Check grounds also.

now i was wondering do i have to change all of my speakers (door as well as rear) or can i just change the rear speakers, like i have done. Note: i dont plan on running an amp
