Light to music interface.

Hey.

Im looking for an interface so my lights on the inside such as my under dash and amp lights to beat to my music.

The thing is though, I want one that keeps the lights dimmed, then brightens them with the beat. Basicly saying I want the lights to not turn off during a quiet part of a song, but to be dimmed.

Does anyone know of an interface like this?

Most of them are pretty sensitive, and you can adjust how senstitive you want them to be. Try Radio Shack, or just buy new lights and adjust them to your liking.

Here is what I think you should do. Im pretty sure there is nothing out there that will keep you lights "dimmed" while it beats to the music, But I do have an idea.


First:
Buy a Music interface module. Here is one from streetglow.

Second:
Get all of your lights that you need for your installation aswell as any extra hardware etc for mounting. (zipties would be the most reliable, and clear ones wouldnt block any light)

Third:
Mount just a few of the lights, wire them to a constant source w/ a switch to make then constant, you can buy a dimmer switch to make them dimmer than full on light.

Fourth:
Mount the rest of the lights near the other ones you just mounted and wired to a constant source, only these ones you should wire them to the Music interface module. This way it will give you that effect that you want of "not turning all the way off".

Final:
Make sure every light is very secure, you dont want to lose them while driving. (Again zipties in the right location works great.) Also hide your wires well, looks ugly if you got sweet light action going on and you can still see all the wires running to them. Also make sure to mount the on/off/dimmer and music interface in an easy to get to but hidden spot.

Thats a fucking good idea! I could wire 2 of the 5 leds in my strip to be constantly on, but with an extra resistor, than put the interface on the other 3!

Id probably mount the box in my trunk near the woofer so itd beat to the bass but not all the highs.

well that box u showed can be adjusted to have them barely on for neon tubes. im not sure how it would work w/ LEDs. but i had a similar effect w/ neons using that same module.

Ive looked at it, but its pretty complex.

Ill have to get that streetglow box and see how it works out.
