it also depends who does the install ... many ppl just rush through the install which effects the purpose of the alarm in the future ...

i have skytek...basic alarm with remote starter, its a good alarm. i got it for200 bucks installed. basic alarm for me since my cb7 is not a daily car. but go with viper if you want reliability. it ranges from 350 to over 1k(thats what i've heard) depends on options and models.
my alarm sometimes doesn't wanna lock my doors, but works fine most of the time....be carefull when choosing alarm systems..and don't get ripped off
good luck

along with the alarm, also add a kill switch, be sure to hide it in a good spot though.
told my buddy sarcastically the other day that i was going to just add like 10 kill switches to the dash, and if someone were to try and steal my car, they'd have to figure out the sequence of the 10 switches. id be something like
on-on-off-on-off-off-off-on-off-on, haha.

I don't like it when something I don't understand goes into my car.
If you're the same, use this website for car alarm installation assistance.

Good brand would be anything from DEI. The reason is, not only do they have great products but also good customer service . Viper, Python, Clifford, etc. are all made by the DEI. Each model are the same but labeled differently for sale purposes.
Now IF you are looking for the most up-to-date alarm system, it would be the company Compustar. Their technology are always a step ahead of everyone else. For an example, Dei's alarm systems now have SST technology ( Further range with less interference). While Compustar had that technology a long time ago. I believe their technology now is more advance then SST, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I was about to go with Compustar for my 2 cb's awhile back but never did. It was because no one locally carried them, thus no warranty...I ended up going with a viper 791xv for my sedan 4 years ago. Currently for my coupe, I have a Clifford 50.5x.
My advice would be to go with DEI"PREPARE for the WORSE, Hope for the BEST" B.T.N.H.
