8th gen accord horns cause fuse to blow

Strange problem here, and I'm beginning to go nuts over what should be a simple problem. I threw together a couple harnesses for a pair of 8th gen Accord horns that I recently bought. Using the Haynes manual and referring to our wiring diagrams, the horn circuit uses red/blue as +12v, and yellow/white as ground. So, I fabricated a simple harness using Vigor bumper light plugs (male match to the female Accord horn plug - horns have the male end of the same type of plug), with the single-plug connector found in newer Hondas for the power, and routed ground to a loop plug and attached it to the horn mount on the chassis. After plugging everything back together, the horn/break lamp fuse always shorts immediately as i plug the battery back in. I checked my wiring to see if it was done correctly, and the soldering is fine and insulated well enough. The horns are only rated 160db, and are also 12v... I just don't understand what could be going wrong.

To anyone who has installed aftermarket horns or installed later Honda horns with the single plug adapter, did you run into the same problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

I run louder FIAMM horns, and I end up using a relay for them Just the simple 4-pin relay..saves a lot of problem..

is this relay you use a replacement to the stock horn relay? or did you add it into the circuit with your own custom wiring?

        bump. same question here.

i went to radio shack and saw different relays available. 12v 30a and 12v 40a.

with those relays, would i replace the stock relay under the dash? or would i connect them to my custom harnesses at the frame, where the horns are mounted?
