hardwiring?

i have neons under my seats but i can't seem to wire the toggle switch correctly.. i hooked up the postive and neg.. but the switch doesn't turn them off i don't know if it's a bad switch or am i missin something

ground the neons, then run 12v to one side of the switch then the positve lead for the neon to the other side of it.

yes just make the switch be interupting one of the wires, it doesnt matter if its the positive or the negative whatevers easier
