Doea any know if 4" car speakers will fit the fronts?

Hi I know the exact side for are front car speakers to be 5" but not alot of car audio companies make 5" its always 5 1/4 and I know for sure thats was too big to fit. But how about 4" is it too small or will it fit in the plastic molding where the factory stero sits. Can anyone get back to me on this? Or is there a way to adapt for the biger 5 1/4 speakers? Well thanks in advice.

Browse around, there is a member on here that with an mdf baffle has 7 inch speakers in his door. I've got 6.5 inch speakers in my door, just take out that pod.

And really, how much sound are you going to get out of a 4 inch speaker that low in the door?

Exactly. I don't have the pods, and I have 6.5" mids mounted in my factory openings.

I wouldn't waste your time on anything smaller than 6.5".. 5.25-5.5" is OK if you don't care much about midbass.. but it will get old after awhile, and you'll almost definately wish you had gone bigger

I don't have a picture at the moment, but the mounting depth of my speakers (Polk DB6501) is 2-5/16".

I wasn't aware of pods that held 6.5" speakers for the cb7.. but then, I didn't have pods in my doors when I bought the car - just some old junk Pioneer 2-ways that the previous owner left in there

Alot of companies sell speakers that'll fit in just about any size hole.

JL Audio is overpriced quite a bit for what you get in return, when it comes to most of their speakers (not subs or amps.. although, those are overpriced quite a bit, too).

                  If it were me, and it was at one time, I'd;

a.) Invest in a nice economical, great sounding budget component set (Polk makes the DB or MM series, both very nice for the price)
b.) Invest a nice, high end, even nicer sounding component set (think; Rainbow, Boston Z, Focal, Helix RS, etc).

I did both. I purchased DB6501s when I was on a budget, and SR6500's when I had the money.. sadly, I still have to replace one of the grills for one of my SR6500 woofers before I can re-install them (no stock speaker covers in the doors).

Forget about the pod. Just mount it in the door panel (the metal portion) itself. So long as you have a speaker that has a decent mounting depth (2-5/8" or less should be good.. maybe slightly deeper) you should have no problems.. and most speakers, even components, will have no trouble mounting directly in the door panel.

                      fixed.

i have bostons at all 4 corners and it sounds great, BUT i want too upgrade a bit.
is the black pod think in the door for sound quality?

audio is not my strong point at all. so ive got a few questions.

why would Honda decide too have 6.5's all the way around in the dx and lx models and have 5" and 6x9' in teh Ex and SE models? it would made more sense if it was difference between body styles, but models? upgrading from 6.5 too 6x9 make sense, but it cancels out downgrading from 6.5 to 5" up front.....wth?

The door pods increase the stock speakers range, so I guess you can call it sq.
I guess honda felt that the 4" with the pod sounded better than the 6.5, and it probably did in that time.
