I have been seeing a lot of threads about this lately
Stock a cb7 has a Clutch Interlock Switch. The car does not have a NSS (Neutral Safety Switch) so it can and will start in gear if you bypass the Clutch Interlock Switch.
You may say I always park it in neutral.. Well what if you forget... What if you go back to your car to get something and hit it into gear... What if someone else is working on your car or you have a valet park it...
I thought the same. I had a remote starter in my car for over two years with a bypassed CIS.. It ended up remote started into a parked car
If you do active your remote starter your emergency brake will not hold the car. Most remote starters will try to start the car three times. Say you remote start the car it will crank maybe the e brake will restrict the cars movement to only 2feet but remember it will try two more times.. So it is easy to see how its feasible for the car to easily move at least six feet in just one remote start cycle.
Six feet is plenty of distance to go through a wall, hit another car, through your garage, pedestrians and even your crappy kid!
There are remote starters built for 5 speeds. They all work basically the same by using a sequence of events to confirm the car is in neutral before allow the car to start. Compustar is one brand. DEI (Directed Electronics) also makes a add on module to basically any brand remote starter. It would be the 689m it runs about $100. They require a few extra connections (to the door pin, brake, etc) but are well worth it.
