Swirls-everybody hates them

for me i personally use CAR BRITE products, since i work in a dealer, but let me tell u that sometimes i've had to use poormans products,
and or mix waxes, and to tell u the truth they've come out really good,
i dont think the waxes matter, is how u use the and for what purposes,
now even with black cars using *** ass wax i dont leave swirls, and by hand

where can you buy all these cutting pads and polishes, and do they come in different stages of abrasiveness, or do you just have to do it in stages?

EDIT: I found a good orbital buffer at sears, its a 10 inch craftsman for like 45 dollars. i just need to go get the pads and polishes. I want to get everything the first trip, so help would be appreciated.

I got one of those, wasn't too impressed. Seemed like it just jiggled more than anything. I got a Porter Cable 6" Random Orbit and some Sonus SFX Pads and Polish and used Zaino Z2 Pro Synthetic wax. Works like a charm every time. Make sure always to clay bar before you polish!!!!

if you need to do alot of defect removal you need a cutting pad.(follow with polishing pad)

if you have no swirls, but just need to shine your paint, you could get a polishing pad.

you can use a finshing pad to apply sealers and wax's after the main polish, but i usually do it by hand.

so how do you keep all of your black on the outside of your car clean doin all this?
and im guessing you guys are recommending the porter cable buffer. ( im looking to buy one so i just wanted some input )

^What do you mean keep the black clean? People recommend Back to Black by mothers. I used it and it worked to restore the blackness, nothing amazing but nice. But by your sig it looks fine...

Anyone have any pictures of swirling? Or tips to avoid this while waxing and what not?

There you go. About how to avoid swirling, as TypeG has said most swirling comes from washing and drying. When you are washing and drying you are working to get all of the dirt off of the vehicle. Without the proper tools, you just move the dirt around on the car, which causes swirling. Best way to avoid swirls- 2 bucket method, grit gaurd (2 if you can) good wash mitt (wool, microfiber, seasponge) and a quality car wash shampoo. When drying, always use nice microfiber towells. They help trap the dirt and lift it from the paint without causing swirls. Not to shoo you off, but autogeek online, mother's wax forum, and autopia are all great sites with a wealth of info. Everything you would ever want to know is on those sites. Truth is, you could probably find out about as much by just PM'ing TypeG

OH wow. That's so such a big difference. I guess I do get pretty bad swirling on my car. I need to look into that, it's annoying in the rear view mirror for sure. I washed my windows twice with microfiber towels and still have them.... So noob.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but could you do all this withOUT using an orbital buffer? Assuming you had the arm strength to continue through all this, is it possible by hand, even if it's less efficient?

srry to burst the karate kid bubble, but it's nearly impossible to remove swirls and get good results without a high speed rotary. The idea of a highspeed rotary is to build heat and bacically shift the clear coat surface, therefore removing the scratchs/swirls. There are many ways/products you can use to hide swirls and clear coat scars, but they will always come back.
