    Plastic Headlamps (yet again)

I found a pic of what my headlamps look like that are close to how they are.. mine are not quite that bad..
see how it has random pitting.. now i had the idea of having my detailing guy at the dealership i was going to ask him next time i had my car detailed if he can buff them out and polish them, now wouldnt that make them alot better,, if not where can i buy new headlamp lenses that goes over the front, because the rest of the housing is in great shape, reflector and all. just the front lense.. anyone know where to get that?.. Question #1 bout the detailer is more important to me tho..

pretty deep...probably have to sand down to a lower level and finish and buff.. take it to the detailer or something.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

probably u may have to gently wet sand it down more to a fine layer. you can probably minimize the scratches now but not remove it.

shoot they should have an idea of what to do...

Shit. i'd pay anyone who would be able to help me to fix my problem and have some miracle thing to do to fix them without having them changed i dont wanna spend 400 bux +170 labor for honda to do it... but man i hate the pitting and scratches.. =(!!! gimme ideas.. ANYONE!
or even anything to ask the detailer to do because i called and they said they dont usually do anything to plastics, if you have any ideas let me no... this is super important to me. i already tried wetsanding that didnt help me much.. anything to mention the detailer to try?

well dont bring it to honda, they are dipshits.

i think you should just look into getting new ones. or at least good condition ones.

i mean wetsanding brought you here, maybe since its messed up already you can do it again but with a finner material...im not sure mang. if i knew more about painting ill know for sure, but if the plastic is scratched in my opinion then i would get it down smoother.

why not go black housing, yummy

Plastic should be fine, heres a how to on dodge neon headlamps
              http://home.hiwaay.net/~lbrewer/howtoheadlights.html

Polish the headlights yourself. I've seen my friend do it on his legend and it came out very nice. These were the steps he used

              1. Wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper.
              2. Wet sand with 1500 grit sandpaper.
              3. Rubbing compound.
              4. Polishing compound.
              5. Finally, finish it off with 2 or 3 separate coats of Mothers
              Reflections car polish.

Another person told me to wet sand it with 400 grit and slowly move up to 600 grit, 800 grit, 1000 grit, 1500 grit, 2000 grit then finish it off with rubbing compound and polishing compound. This one taks a bit longer. but it'll come out finer

well it worked!!!! it costed me 15 bux, the guy buffed em out got rid of ALL of the sanding marks, some of the pits are there still but theyre smaller.. honestly it looks as shiney and new as my dads 03's.. that means, once graduation comes around il most likely be allowed to put my HID's in .. cool glad it worked out, do you remember what solution or what color solution he used and what type of buffing pad? like foam or wool?

did he use a high speed?

I would be hesitant to sand down plastic, but that's just me.

Rubbing compound is your best friend.

Make sure you align the lights after you install the HID kit or you will be blinding people all over and you will think your kit sucks because of how the light is being beamed. You HAVE to align them to make them look good, I think!
