    Mequiars Cleaner Wax..GooD?..Bad??

Ok, I just got my car painted about 5 - 6 weeks ago and I have washed it about 5 - 6 times already (once per week) but I also use this Meguiars Cleaner Wax twice on my car (it says its clear coat safe) but the strangest thing happens. The bottles claims its easiest way to clean, enrich and protect all automotive paint but I am having 2nd thoughts. I wipe it on the car , let it dry as directed then use a clean cloth to wipe it off but even when Im applying it the cloth i use has paint residue on it from my car?? Then when its dries and I wipe it off I still see paint residue on the clean cloth?? The 1st time I taught it was over spray and that it wont happen again but the same thing happened today. Have any of you guys used this Cleaner wax and is this normal for a fairly new paint job?

    1. the general consensus is that you wait 60 days before waxing new paint.

    2. cleaner wax is just that, cleaner and wax... i.e. it's not a pure wax. rather, it has some chemicals in it to help pull contaminants out of the paint.

    3. meguiar's own website states that their cleaner wax, though safe for new cars, is designed for cars that have been neglected, or are a few years older:

    http://www.meguiars.com/faq/index.cf...ection=_53#_53

    4. if you are truly just wiping it on, letting it dry, and removing it... something's wrong. it should be applied in a circular motion, allowed to dry to a haze, and removing it immediately. perhaps you meant that, but it's not what you wrote.

with all that said, it's not highly unusual to see some color on a towel/rag/bonnet after using a product that has some abrasiveness. just how abrasive is this product, i don't know since i've never used it. as long as you're not pulling chips of paint up, and the paint itself looks fine, i'd let it be.

Thanks bro....I do wipe it on in a circular motion , let dry to a haze and wipe immediately(it drys in about a minute or less). I guess I'll stop using it then.....I used to use on my car before the paint job and never had any probs so thats why i used it still after new paint. I know this might have been covered a millions time but if you give me a quik hint.....whats the best polish and wax you would recommend to use on my car after 60 dyas that it??

polish and wax is somewhat dependent on how much you're willing to spend, and personal opinion.

i use poorboy's professional polish, and i don't use a true wax, i use clearkote's vanilla moose hand wax glaze, followed with poorboy's ex-p sealant. i could use a wax afterwards, but i don't.

i have better results using these products in conjunction with a random orbital buffer than i ever did using a wax and only using my hands.

i've learned that waxing is the last step- the stages before, i.e. the prep before waxing, is where the true beauty in detailing lies.

i get my products at www.superiordetailsupplies.com good prices, lots of good prices, and they're working on getting some other products.

        other good polishes:

        - blackfire gloss enhancing polish:
        http://www.properautocare.com/blacglosenpo.html

general consensus that it's better for dark colored cars

        - menzerna :

        - einszett paint polish

        waxes:

        - pinnacle souveran :
        http://www.autopia-carcare.com/pin-312.html
        http://www.topoftheline.com/pinsouvwax.html

this is a highly highly (yes, i wrote it twice) regarded wax. note that it is not cheap ($69 for a small jar).

        - poorboy's natty paste wax
        www.superiordetailsupplies.com

        - meguiar's nxt

as i said before, i've had great results with poorboy's professional polish, followed with clearkote vanilla moose hand wax glaze, followed with poorboy's ex-p sealant. i only do this every few months, other than that it's just a regular wash in between.

Cool, thanks alot......a grand total of $40.50 ( poorboy's polish + ex-p sealant and clearkote vanilla moose hand wax glaze)+ shipping I guess , to protect and beatify a $450.00 paint job...not bad. I gonna try these and let you know how it goes. Thanks again bro.

If paint is coming off on a brand new paint job, either you didn't pay for clearcoat or your clearcoat sucks ass. And another thing is paint is supposed to cure for 90 days!!! That means no wax for ~90 days! And to top it off, that burgundy bottle cleaner wax isn't good at all. It's mean't for the casual user with no brain.
