    what's your cleaning lineup?

i didn't want to keep neglecting this forum, so i thought that i should be the one to kick things off

when you guys wash/wax your cbsev's (or whatever else you drive)... which cleaning products do you use?

i usually use (in this order):

    - meguiars car wash solution
    - after drying, i use 409 on the tar/grease spots that didn't come out w/ the car wash solution
    - mothers "back to black" shiner for all of the side moldings
    - windex for the windows & lenses

    - and every 2-3 months, i use meguiars brand wax (can or bottle).
    - i use that meguiars quick mist detail spray every once in a while to retain the shine from the wax job too.

hehe not many do post in here.

well here is my line up.

    from a fresh start:

-take off rims (stock) wash and wax them very good especially in the hard to reach places.
    claybar the whole car
use "nothins better" on the windows to get out water spots and make a really glossy finish
wash it down with dawn soap to get rid of the residue from the claybar and anything left over
let it cool down and use MEGUIRES POLISH (#2 on the 3 step system)
after i put a coat of MEGUIRES CARNUBA WAX (#3 on the 3 step system)
then i attack the modlings with meguires vynal and rubber protector.
    buff and there you go.

after 2 washes i put another coat of wax to protect the car.
the interior is another long process.hehe.

soon when i get another car in (either a lexus, or a Mitsubitshi GST) i will do a writeup on how to really get a shine out of the car...hehe pics of course.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

    Retro!

                    Are you using dish/hand detergent/soap? That's a No No.
It will strip the clearcoat right off. Automotove soap is much milder and better for surface cleaning.

use dishsoap for if your car is very greasy, like from road oil... or for getting grease off tires and rims, other than that dont use it too often, maybe every 3rd wash if it needs it.

i been using diswash soap for prepping and now u tell me it takes off clear coat? OMG hahaha....i bet over time but it should do some damage especially in the sun. now i need a new pre-cleaner....maybe degreaser mixed at 100:1 or something.

i used dishwash soap for my rims on my z31 as well.

                        reconmend me something..

yup it's true guys, dishwasher soap is too harsh for the paint and will eventually strip the clear coat right off under constant use. That's why automotive soap was created... it's like johnson's baby shampoo for your car.
