    methods of polishing, waxing?

i am curious if those 10" waxer/polisher i see from the checkers and etc are good for polishing my cb7 or any other car. will it hurt the paint?

i am thinking of getting one JUST for polsihing and hand polishing it.

anythoughts?? or should I just go hand all the way??
    hahahahah

not sure what exactly you're talking about....

you can always go buy a buffer, compound, polish and wax and actually detail your car... just did a mercedes sl500 today, and i'm 75 bucks richer, after spilitting it between another guy who helped me..

but any links to what you're talking about?

      haha sorry..

u know those machines that spins a pad and u go over the car? like the white media is attached to this thing and u turn it on and it spins the pad w/ the polish and etc etc.

i just want something to speed up teh polish part. the wax part i prefer doing by hand.
      hahahahah

yup, that's a buffer... you can get all sorts of different pads for it... then you can do what i did, and use compound, and polish, then wax by hand... that three step process will give you the best results!!! you'll love it!

The Maguire's Gold Class paste wax works GREAT as long as you have buffed your car beforehand.

i got a random orbit 6 inch buffer.

the reason why i got a 6 inch is to get into the tight spaces and its easier to handle than the 10...

i use a combo of terry cloths with either rubbing compound fine cut from 3m or mequires #9 swirl remover followed by their carnuba wax, the tan bottles.

the way i prep the terry cloths, and by the way try not to buy the ones at kregan that fit 5-8 inches...those are too big...i went to sears and paid 5 bucks for 2 VERY TIGHT FIT terry bonnets....the big ones bulk up and get stuck in the buffer and also spreads around some white shit. prepping them is easy, you can either wet them entirely, ring it out...and then put it on the buffer and let the buffer run to get the majority of the water off...or get a spray bottle (what pros do) and spray it a few times, and then turn on the buffer to spread and have a slightly damp pad. this is to help the compound you are using spread easier and evenly...i love doing it...

i use #9 cause its has a slight compound in it to get the car smoother...then i follow up with their carnuba wax...

basically i do only a section at a time when i do the swirl remover part...wipe off immediatly after im done, remember polish isnt supposed to stay on too long or its a bitch to take off.

then when i polished the whole car i change my pads, wash out the pad i was just using and then use the wax....i use it sparingly and spread a nice very thin coat all over the car. and let it dry.

by craftsman 6inch cost me 20 bucks...and with 2 year warrenty it ran me 23 dollars LOL i mean you cant beat that!

im detailing 5 cars today with it =)

oh and you use WAYYYYY less than if you do it by hand....its true

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

the denali and the rover turned out awesome... I've got a montero to do tomorow.. I do a full detail job though, interior, engine, and exterior. 150 is the average price. Today the Denali was only an exterior and slight interior job though.. 100 bucks for that one..
