The best way before rewaxing and polishing a car to remove the road grime and grease even from the rims is to use a nice amount of dishwashing deterggent i use dawn, it takes all of the grease off like nothing its wonderful! warning: it will remove clear coat if used every time you wash your car.. this is good for before you rewax and polish the car, shouldnt be substituted for the normal car soap you use. (I use Meguiars Gold Class) it leaves a nice shine but you want to make sure to dry it real well/quick to avoid water spots..
