    Want to swap to HIR

Alright, lucky for us CB7s can accept HIR in lows and highs.

    9011-High
    9012-Lows

No new info there, I was just wondering if anyone has swapped both highs and low beams with HIR and how much of a difference it was. Supposedly HIR low beams pop out 1700 lumens compared to stock halogen at 1000 and the HIR pop out an impressive 2300 over the stock 1700. Rallylights.com sells bulbs for 30 bucks a piece. So for 120 bucks I should see a one hell of an improvement.

Can anyone convince or prove this?

I've been wanting to try those HIR bulbs too, but my usdm headlights already have a HID retro and my jdm headlights use H4 bulbs, and HIR only comes in 9006, 9005.

I agree with wed though about only getting the low beams.

Well, I do a lot of country back road driving. As much light I can get without sticking 6" round lights on my roof rack I'll take

you might want to invest in a set of plug and play HID lights.

if you look around you can get them from around 220 shipped and they are helluvalot brighter.

Well that was my initial plan, but the cops around here don't like HIDs in regular halogen reflectors. I don't have the knowledge nor the money to do a retrofit. The only this I guess I could do is just put HID bulbs in my highs. But I really can't justify buying 220 lights just for my back road driving.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have HID projectors but like I said, the money just isn't there.

So you can spend $60 on bulbs that will last 400 hours on average

              - OR -
Spend about $200 and have them last for an average of 3000 hours?

Do the math man, an HID setup will last an average of 7.5 times longer.
Which is really the more cost effective option?

HIDs seem like the better option, But thats just my two cents.

Yeah I realize they are, but getting pulled over every time a drive at night isn't.

Honestly what is the glare like in our housings. If you guys think I can get away with it without blinding the hell out of people OR pointing my headlights down to the ground I'll do it.

so he'll pull u over just b/c of hids, his quota must be hella high pulling over just about every car 2000-up

i did a test to see how much glare it would produce while someone was driving my car i seriously its not that bad, not, even on highs(but it was hella bright, not going to lie). i think u can point them more right and down which should compensate for any "glare" the cop found offensive

maybe i should come up to where u are and drive my friend's miata w/yellow low beams, i just might get a tickey every few miles

I did gagoogity that girl. I gashmoigitied her gaflavity with my googis. And I am sorry.

So no one here with real HIR experience?

This is the only thread i found where someone on here installed them.. I didn't see much of a difference to be honest, but perhaps you guys have a different opinion:

I just shoved the HIRs in my car and I can tell the difference in how the light lays down on the road when compared to my SHITTY FAKE HID BLUE bulbs lol. These HIR bulbs give you best bang for your buck as I noticed the light output is increased over the stock and shitty fake HID blue bulbs I had had before.
I have some glare at the side of each headlight... Is this common when putting greater intensity lights in the stock housing?

                          Im missing something here.

Just run HID in your hi beams. Why the Fhq would a cop pull you over for your HI beams being to bright. what are you driving with your hi beams on all the time? If your running your lows i could see the problem but most sain people dont drive around with highs so why would the cop even know your running hid unless your highbeaming him and YES you should get a ticket if thats what your doing all the time. or the alternitive is a set of $150+ driving lights by hella or another name brand on the bottom of your bumper. Same price except they can make or brake those sexy good looks of the cb7.
I cant Slam further. The ground refuses to get any lower.
