    New lighting project...Bosch H7 projectors

    http://cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=49462 <----- my last project

Those headlights are working out pretty well for me, although I do miss the functionality of my high beams at times. In any case, while browsing Ebay I came across some Bosch H7 low beam projectors for a price I couldn't say no to ($50, or what I paid for those H4s in my last project). So, I'll be peeling my headlights open again and retroing these in the housing.

I'll probably change the design of the cutoff to make a z rather than a ramp, shorten the height of the step, and increase the blue-shift in the cutoff. This is just a stepping stone for an HID setup, as the H7 and D2S bulbs are so close in design that with just a simple adapter the D2S bulb can be safely used in an H7 headlight.

I'm hoping this comes before Thanksgiving weekend as I hope to complete this project by then. I wish I could get better projectors (i.e. RX330 AFSs, TSXs) but eh...the Bosch's are small and will be easy to work with. Stay tuned!

We sorted all the electrical stuff out...it's getting spark and fuel and everything. We took the VC off and the timing appears to be off. I have a GSR timing belt, so we're gonna throw that on and fix the timing. It should start right up from there assuming everything else is good.

I'm almost done with my TSX retrofit, but I guess I'm curious about your project.... Why didn't you just tackle an official HID retrofit to begin with? Seems like you have plenty of time to complete and redo lighting endevours that in the long run will end up in the trash. The TSXs are not that big, you may find that properly adapting your setup for HIDs is a bitch down the road. Granted, I know all about the H7 -> D2S adapters, but why not just do it now....

Do you have any pics of your current setup?

Financial issues. Plus, really, I don't need an HID setup. My friend has an '04 Maxima w/halogen projectors...H13s I believe...and the output on them is great. Better than my dad's M45 with HID reflectors.

But yea...I got the projectors and bulbs for $55. They usually go for $125 or so, so I just jumped on it. I can always upgrade to HIDs later. And it doesn't make sense to go all HID now, as I already have the parts. I could sell these projectors for a nice profit...but I'm gonna stick with this project. It'll be child's play.

Nice job on the retro, but I'm just curious if you're going to use a shroud and how you plan on sealing the back?

I'm not using a shroud, just aluminum tape shot flat black....looks clean though and it'll block all the stray light....

Here's a few pics, they're going in this weekend. I have my harness done, my Gen III ballasts, bulbs, etc....

This is what they'll look like when completed

I've never seen aluminum tape used before, so I can't wait to see the end result. But the caps you put on the back, aren't they a bit long?

Nope, I dropped the new housings in today....plenty of room to spare.

There's at least 1 1/4" there between the battery and the PVC sleeve.

Not completely done, but progress is good. ( closing up with front glass tonight)
