    Hid:OEM Headlights or Egay Projectors

I have a huge delima...I've seen retrofit threads alot and I'm truly impressed, but by me not having enough money for any kind of retro fit for OEM Headlights or Egay projectors, I would like to know which way would you go for just a p&p McCulloch kit.4300k-6000k temps only

I have both sets of lights
OEM Blackhoused Headlights w/ yellow painted hibeam
    or
    Blackhoused Ebay Projectors

What would be more worth it with the HID kit for my situation?
Just opinions and no search thread posts if no one minds...thanks.

well i'll put it to you like this

utilizing a pnp kit, the ebay projectors will give you less light output than the oem headlights. it's just due to the fact that the ebay projectors have a terrible cutoff and their bowl/lense design is really inferior, even compared to the cheapest oem hid projector setup.

however, if you do like the look of ebay projectors, i'd suggest you go that route for ease of future upgradability. Not only will the retrofit be easier and require less cutting than using the oem lights, but the clear/lineless thin plastic lenses on the ebay projectors will keep the retrofitted cutoff at its sharpest while retaining the lustrious color. If it weren't for my hating how the ebay projectors look, I would have totally went with them, because even the thin plastic lenses on the oem jdm 1-pieces kill a bit of sharpness and color on the cutoff, because of the lines on the lense and of course minor pitting due to the fact they're almost 13 years old.

if you're planning on using the oem usdm stanley thick glass lenses, you're going to basically lose all of your cutoff's sharpness and color, as well as a bit of foreground lighting, due to the thickness of the lense and the lines.

but yeah, if you can stand the look of the ebay projectors, go that route, as it'll make your life a lot easier if/when you go the retrofit route in the future, plus it'll bring out the full potential of the retrofitted projectors

Hey flip, I love both headlights. Its just that Im not sure when I will be able to afford the retrofit for the ebay lights. I dont think the oem lights look good with the retro unless its the real jdm onepieces like you have. I wish I had those jdms, people are just charging too much for them I could see 250 bucks, but 4,5,6 hundred. I guess thats the price u pay in the jdm game. Your CB7 is my cars idle foreal. Im saving up for a motor swap so thats most important. Anyways i dont think it will be too bad just hid'n the oems.

            thanks man, i appreciate it

as per the real jdm one pieces, you can easily get a set on ebay for about 210 shipped (several on there right now for about 210 shipped from japan). as per the blackhousing (if that's what you're looking for), its beyond simple to do, as all the pieces that you need to paint are separate from the housing, so no real taping off involved, except for taping off the clear corner lense. yeah i'd say you cant go wrong with the authentic jdm one pieces, even if you do go retrofit in the future, the cutoff and output is still very respectable. im in the midst of retrofitting my second set of jdm one pieces with tsx projectors as we speak, and should be done tomorrow.

so you do all the work yourself? thats impressive, well if its 210 shipped, I might look into it before I go hid then if thats the case. It wasnt hard to blackhouse the oems anyway so i know that will be a breeze. Hey flip, I havent seen a DIY post for the retrofit step by step. Did you write one, if not you should since your jdms are flawless. How much do the projectors on their own usually run for the pair? point me in the right direction.

nevermind, they are about the same as the price of the jdms, damn. I heard valeo projectors can fit the ebay projectors, is that true or what can fit?

well it depends on what kinda projectors you go with. for 100 dollars, you can get brand new ece bosch singles (smallest hid projectors on the market) from hidplanet.com, which have very good width and coverage and cutoff especially for the price. Of course you wont be getting tsx performance or valeo color, but for the price, the bosch's can't be beat.

thanks on the props man, yep I did the retrofit on the 1 pieces by myself, the first time i did it it was pretty difficult but i really took my time. plus, i didn't have a dremel back then Now that i have a dremel things are going a lot cleaner and quicker...the main thing is just making sure the horizontal aim is perfect and that the beam isn't crooked. i'll try and take pics of the process since i cant find my old pics, and post them up hopefully sooner than later (pretty busy)
