    cleaning oem (glass) headlight Question

my OEM headlights have like a million little specks on them, they are glass,
aside from high speed buffing, what can i do? is there a product?

when they are dry they are kinda hazzy, when they are wet, ( armour all they look good, armour all doesnt last long though)

and what does high speed buffing require, could i do it?

like $180 +shipping, which isn't too bad when you think that most places sell the stock headlights for $80-100 each. search the forsale forum

Wash as normal, then clay bar (with wetting agent i.e., detailing shine or cash wash solution) will atleast make them smooooth.

one of the headlights i picked up at the junkyard is covered in little pits. i practically got it for free, and it's an aftermarket replacement, so i decided to experiment on it. i took these after one coat of quality clear coat. they look alittle better after the second coat.

it's not a perfect solution, and i don't know how it will stand up to dirt and grit flying at it on the road, but i'd say it's better than nothing. plus, you can always strip the paint back off it you find a better solution.

i would say you might be on to something. is that clear from a rattle can? i've
seen people spray transparent paint on headlights before, but they were always the plastic ones. later

I did the same on my lights but after a bit it turns yellow so I peeled it off...........

Great achievements result from great effort

i used UV-resistant clear. i bought it when i re-ambered my bumper lights so the color wouldn't fade. hopefully it won't yellow.

however, after drying you can still see alot of the pits. there are several glass polishes out there made from mild abrasives. i might try that next.

i think it would be cheaper to just buy new headlights. :/

ive always thought that sanding it with 2000 grit and then polinshing it with a heavy cut polisher, then switching to a glass polish would work well. problem is i dont know exactly where to get the glass polisher...for cheap, and not a economy size!
